Considering Blepharoplasty? Here is All You Need to Know

Standard

Hi! I am Dr M Szalay and today I am going to talk about Blepharoplasty.

If you’re tired, sleepless or haven’t had a good night’s sleep, it can show around your eyelids.
As you age, more permanent changes can occur which can make you seem tired all the time. The skin around your eyes starts to sag and lose its elasticity, resulting in excessive folds over your eyelids and and a droopy appearance. A blepharoplasty, commonly known as eyelid surgery, is what many people consider to remove and tighten excess skin around the eyes and achieve a more youthful look.

What is Blepharoplasty?

Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure performed for cosmetic reasons. The surgery enhances the appearance of your eyelids and the surrounding area whilst in people with severe sagging it can improve vision obscured by hanging eyelids.

Are You A Candidate for Blepharoplasty?

Ageing causes the skin around your eyes to loosen and wrinkle over the edge of the upper eyelid. Excessive sagging or drooping around your eyes may block your vision, which is the reason why some people opt for eyelid surgery. Other people may choose blepharoplasty for cosmetic reasons, in order to achieve a rejuvenated appearance.

If you’re considering blepharoplasty, it is wise to consult a doctor experienced in the procedure.

Whilst cosmetic procedures can significantly improve your appearance, your doctor will advise you on what you can expect from the surgery. He will also be able to advise you about possible complications, recovery time and other relevant information associated with the surgery.

Important areas that he will discuss with you will include your medical history; any medications you are taking; how to prepare for the surgery how the procedure is performed.

Finding the Right Doctor

Blepharoplasty is an intricate procedure and hence it is important to find an experienced doctor who is able to show you examples of his work.
